![]() Netflix on the WiiAnother powerful combination has been forged, this time between the Nintendo Wii and Netflix. Announced in January, the company officially brought streaming to the Wii last month, and now it is available to all users. The availability of Netflix allows users to download the movie of their choice onto their Wii console. This is by the use of instant-streaming discs, which are on the way to subscribers as we speak. After getting the disc, they need only to insert it into the Wii to access all the content on Neflix's streaming service. The addition of Netflix streaming to the Nintendo Wii completes Netflix's goal to bring its service to every major video game console. It was originally available only on the Xbox 360, which is the only game console that doesn't require the streaming disc in order to use its movie-renting services. Using Netflix has some slight modifications from other game consoles. It shares the same horizontal layout, with cover shots of films and television shows, which is standard for the site. However, there is also additional information available onscreen, such as run time and star rating, which is Netflix's assessment as to how well the viewer will enjoy the movie. As per usual with Netflix, the user still has the Instant Queue, Movies You'll Love, Recently Watched, and other recommendations. While the Wii is limited to standard playback, there isn't a considerable drop in graphics capabilities. This union between Netflix and the Nintendo Wii is more than profitable for both the movie and the gaming industries. It doesn't seem like many people will be leaving their couches anytime soon. by Lauren: 04-06-2010 16:17:39 Click here to write your review.
