Top Wii games of 2009

1. New Super Mario Bros

Our much loved duo of plumbers return to their roots in this new tale of the Super Mario saga. It combines the style of the original with fantastic graphics and endless fun including new abilities for Mario to use against all the familiar bad guys we have come to love and hate. The game also includes co-op and battle mode for excellent group gaming.


2. Wii Sports Resort
This is the sequel to Wii sports set on a tropical island with 10 new games to play; the new games include archery, canoeing, new golf courses and skydiving. Do make sure you buy the motion plus along with it to ‘hopefully’ avoid arguments about doing it right.

3. Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues
If you haven’t played a Lego game yet then this one is a great one to get started with. Anyone can pick up and play them; and with a barrel full of comical cut scenes, improved multiplayer game play and the chance to play through sections from all four movies this is a must for fans of the whip-wielding archaeologist and Lego games.

4. Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board
This much improved sequel to the Wii fit allows you to go to the gym in the comfort of your own living room. Once you have jumped on the balancing board you can choose between four categories; strength training, aerobics and yoga. The game also keeps track of your progress as well as setting you targets.


5. The Beatles: Rock Band

Yes you guessed it; this is played just like any other Rock Band or Guitar Hero games and is compatible with most of their Guitar controllers too. However, the one thing this game does have is the choice of over 40 Beatles songs to play along to and many different game play environments to choose from.

6. Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games
Another Mario game in the top ten, what are the chances! This game has all the right ingredients for Wii remote-waving fun for everyone. Play with all of the classic characters skiing, figure skating, playing ice-hockey, speed skating and much more.


7. FIFA 10
It includes both of the well known modes; career and manager modes. The game play is much improved compared to the multi-award winning FIFA 09 meaning there is better physical interaction between players and the control of the ball is more sophisticated including the first ever true 360 degree dribbling system.


8. DJ Hero
It is a difficult choice between this and the Beatles Rock Band for a music game, but if you have got a little bored of playing with your guitar and fancy a new challenge DJ Hero may be for you. If you are also a gamer who’s favourite type of music isn’t rock music then this will definitely deliver an all-new interactive music experience.

9. Rabbids Go Home
In Rabbids Go Home you have to help the little white fluffy guys scare humans, make as much mess as possible and generally cause havoc as they collect enough items in order to reach the moon. This game includes 15 amazing game environments, over 40 missions and enough fun to wave a Wii remote at for hours.

10. F1 2009
Yet another top racing game, however this time it is a bit more grown up as it is set on the most popular racing sport. It is the most detailed Wii racing game ever made and allows you to drive as any of the 2009 season drivers on all 17 of the tracks in the championship.
